With the slogan, “Let’s gather the silent wonder of the night sky,” Telescope Bangladesh is moving forward with everyone’s support and participation. Telescope Bangladesh is essentially a gathering place for space enthusiasts. The group’s primary goal is to spark and nurture public interest in astronomy, so that curiosity and knowledge about the universe can spread from one generation to the next.

Continuing this journey, just like last year, Telescope Bangladesh is once again organising a wonderful night sky observation event. Your presence will greatly inspire us and strengthen our motivation.

For everyone’s convenience, the event has been scheduled on a Friday. We are arranging a special stargazing camp on the nights of November 24 and 25, 2023 (Friday), from 5:00 PM to 10:00 AM the following morning. Venue: Bangladesh’s first private observatory, Benu Bhita, Rajabari Union, Sreepur, Gazipur, near Dhaka.

The event, titled “Stories of the Bright Stars,” is open to all. School, college, and university students, as well as anyone interested, are welcome to join. During the camp, we will use various instruments to identify stars and constellations. We will also explore the stories and mythologies behind their names.

What the camp will include:

• A lively gathering of space enthusiasts
• Open discussions on astronomy
• Hands-on sessions on identifying constellations
• Discussions on the history and mythology behind star names
• Interactive Q&A sessions
• Observation of planets, stars, and deep-sky objects through a Meade LX90 8-inch ACF telescope
• Overnight stay in a safe environment. This camp is a special opportunity for both beginners and experienced participants to learn and share knowledge.

Purpose of the event:

The main objective of this sky observation camp is to help participants recognise the night sky through real-life experience, increase interest in astronomy, and spread awareness about space science. Active participation and enthusiasm from attendees make this event truly successful. Telescope Bangladesh believes that today’s curiosity will inspire and enlighten future generations.

Overnight arrangements:

Participants will stay in tents arranged by Telescope Bangladesh.

We will provide:

• Tent
• Sleeping bag
• Security arrangements
• Designated meals.

Participants are requested to bring warm clothing and necessary personal items according to the weather.

Registration fees and conditions:

To participate, registration must be completed first by paying the designated fee.

There are two categories:

Student Fee: 1500 BDT

• A valid school, college, or university ID card is required
• Copies of NID and institutional ID must be uploaded
• Discount is not applicable without proper ID

General Participant: 2000 BDT

• NID copy upload is mandatory.

If you would like to travel by group bus, an additional 500 BDT will apply.

Booking Money: 1000 BDT (non-refundable)

Registration Deadline: November 10, 2022.

Tent capacity is limited (maximum 80 participants). Please confirm your booking by paying the fee as soon as possible.
